      2024年为中国农历甲辰龙年。甲，作为天干的首位，象征着开始与新生；辰，作为地支的第五位，与龙相对应，寓意着力量与智慧。甲辰年的到来，仿佛预示着一个新的开始，一个充满力量与智慧的新周期。中文学校在春节这周，挂起了灯笼、窗花、福字等装饰，小朋友们穿上了漂亮的中国传统服饰喜迎新春佳节。

Welcoming the Year of the Dragon

The year 2024 marks the Jiachen Year in the Chinese lunar calendar. Jia is the first of the ten Heavenly Stems, symbolizing new beginnings and vitality; Chen is the fifth of the twelve Earthly Branches and corresponds to the dragon, representing strength and wisdom. The arrival of the Jiachen Year heralds a fresh start—a new cycle filled with energy and insight.

To celebrate the Spring Festival, the Chinese school was adorned with traditional decorations such as lanterns, paper cuttings, and “Fu” (blessing) characters. Children dressed in beautiful traditional Chinese attire to joyfully welcome the Lunar New Year.

       ACMC民乐团是宾夕法尼亚州立大学最活跃的华人学生组织之一，也是校内唯一专注于中华民族乐器演奏的社团。乐团成员演奏的乐器种类丰富，包括二胡、古筝、琵琶、中阮、笛子、古琴等，全面展现了中国传统音乐的魅力。

他们的到访为中文学校的孩子们带来了一次难得的近距离接触传统文化的机会。孩子们不仅亲眼见识并了解了这些具有代表性的民族乐器，更在现场欣赏到了极富中国韵味、动人心弦的民族音乐演出，激发了他们对中华文化的兴趣与热爱。

Exploring Traditional Chinese Instruments 

The ACMC Chinese Music Ensemble is one of the most active Chinese student organizations at Penn State University and the only group on campus dedicated to the performance of traditional Chinese musical instruments. The ensemble features a wide range of instruments, including the erhu, guzheng, pipa, zhongruan, dizi, and guqin, showcasing the rich charm of Chinese traditional music.

Their visit offered the students of the Chinese school a rare opportunity to engage with traditional culture up close. The children not only saw and learned about these iconic instruments firsthand, but also enjoyed a live performance filled with beautiful melodies and distinctive Chinese elements. The experience sparked their interest in and appreciation for Chinese culture.

      董事会主席端杏雅邀请到了中文学校的资深家长——李莹老师和孙陆老师，她们结合自身多年育儿经验，倾情分享了在子女教育方面的宝贵心得。分享内容涵盖以下几个重要方面：1. 从小培养孩子良好的学习与生活习惯；2. 引导孩子发展兴趣，激发内在潜能；3. 构建积极健康的亲子关系；4. 帮助初中生和高中生合理规划选课，做好学业发展路径的指导。
     她们的分享内容真实而深入，既有实用的方法，也饱含对教育的热情与智慧，赢得了在场家长们的共鸣与热烈反响。

Sharing Insights on Parenting and Education  

Board Chair Ms. Xingya Duan invited two experienced parents from the Chinese School community—Ms. Ying Li and Ms. Lu Sun—to share their valuable insights on parenting and education based on their personal experiences.

Their presentation covered the following key topics: 1. Cultivating good study and daily habits from an early age; 2. Encouraging children’s interests and unlocking their potential; 3. Building positive and healthy parent-child relationships;
4. Guiding middle and high school students in course selection and academic planning.  

Their heartfelt and practical sharing, filled with both wisdom and real-life experience, resonated deeply with the audience and was warmly received by all the attending parents.

       在董事会主席端杏雅老师的邀请下，中文学校的资深家长杨澜老师为大家带来了一场实用而精彩的讲座，分享了关于家庭税务规划、保险配置以及投资理财等方面的宝贵经验。她结合自身丰富的专业知识和生活实践，为家长们提供了清晰、实用的理财思路，帮助大家更好地规划家庭经济，提升财务管理能力。

Family Financial Management Workshop

At the invitation of Board Chair Ms. Duan Xingya, experienced parent Ms. Yang Lan from the Chinese school delivered a practical and insightful lecture sharing valuable knowledge on family tax planning, insurance arrangements, and investment management. Drawing from her extensive professional expertise and personal experience, she provided clear and actionable financial strategies to help parents better plan their family finances and enhance their financial management skills.

 由State College High School的杰出毕业生Jessica Zhang倾情分享，面向目前家中有初中生和高中生的同学及家长，详细讲解初中阶段科学选课的方法和策略，同时深入介绍大学申请的关键流程与注意事项，帮助学生及家长更好地规划学业与未来发展。 

Learning Experience Sharing
Jessica Zhang, an outstanding graduate of State College High School, generously shares her insights with students and parents who currently have children in middle school or high school. She provides detailed guidance on effective course selection strategies during middle school and offers an in-depth overview of the key steps and important considerations in the college application process, helping students and parents better plan academic paths and future development.
